We went back to gymnastics after Ellas class one day for the open gym so Josie could try walking on all the foam mats. She loved it! She mostly loved the playground balls that she was just running around yelling "BALL".
Pardon the photo quality. They are from my iphone. I cannot get my iphone to take in focus pictures, like ever.

Josie had her 15 month check up today. The doctor said she looked great and we went over all the ophthalmology recommendations. She watched her walk, they did all the usual shots plus the flu shot, and a lead test and an iron test.... she wasn't pleased.
So Josie is 32 1/2 inches tall- 96TH %ile (ella was 32 1/4 inches)
21 lbs 14 oz- right between the 25th and 50th %ile (ella was 25 lb 2 oz)
weight for length 5th %ile..... guess we have a skinny mini

Tried to get another framer for Omi.... no dice.
Pat and Tif stuck around all day so that Pat could help Nate work on the woodshed. Josie and Caley each took many naps so that kept is homebound with the big girls. They played the nicest when doing crafts (sharing brand new toys out of the box is hard) so we stuck to that. They did more painting. Ellas apron was left outside on the swing set in the rain so she borrowed Caleys.
They played outside, but they needed a little more intervening to play nice.
The broke into the new play doh and the fun factory baking set.
She made me a cupcake. Then, when the babies woke up (at 430pm) we went to Friendlies for ice cream and then came home for dinner. Because when its your birthday, you can do that!

This is a long post.... lots of good pictures!
"It took a really long time to get to 4!" - Ella
She wanted to have an art party for her birthday, and it could be argued that it was way more extravagant of a party than was necessary for a 4 year old birthday, but it was fun to plan, and the day was really fun too (thought I had a lot of help with keeping the mess and potential disasters under control!)
The canvas painting table
The overflow painting table, though it ended up not being necessary since Josie and Caley were asleep for all the projects anyway.
The projects were set up, the paint was poured....
All she had to do was wait until 1:00.... that was hard. She was so excited, she didn't know what to go with herself. We sent her out to the store with daddy to buy stuff for lunch.
She made her party hat.
Finally it was tine for the party! We invited our usual friends (The kilgores, and maeve and maddie, our old neighbors), the cousins, and 2 friends from school. We had 12ish kids coming to paint (age range 1-5)! Here is the party hat making.
Josie went down for a nap, and the kids all went outside to play on the swingset while we picked up inside and waited for everyone to arrive and finish their hats. It ended up being key to have the swingset for an intermediary activity.
Taylor made a second hat for Caley who was asleep.
Rory spent the most time on her hat and used the most glitter paint.
Next was time for canvas painting.
They all took it very seriously. I was surprised that they all put their aprons on for it. It was really cute!
We kept the potentially messiest ones off the rug.
Charlie was more of a paint critic than a painter.
Brynn used up all her paint.
2 or 3 times!
Auntie Tif jumped in on the painting too!
Then it was time for cake. Shane was ready to go with his fork!
I tried to make a cake that looked like the palettes they were using.
She needed help with the candles.
Caley woke up just in time for cake.
Time for presents. This is the first birthday that we actually opened gifts in front of guests. She seemed really excited about everything she got, so that was nice.
Josie woke up and then she and Caley got to have their make up painting session, except they were outside, and they had no clothes on.
I forgot to take a picture of the little favors, but everyone got a little mini water color set and 2 crayons and a prewritten thank you note (plus their aprons, easels and artwork). She had been practicing writing everyones names. Everyone, especially Ella, seemed to have a great time!
