We wanted to have a relaxing Christmas day, so we opted for Christmas Eve mass. We weren't sure which to attend as non of them was at a really convenient time. Our choices were 1. dinner time 2. bedtime 3. after bedtime. We opted for the mass that ran slightly into bedtime and figured since we weren't going anywhere the next day (and actually the girls never even got dressed) they could skip tubs. This mass also happened to be the one with the Christmas Pageant and I thought Ella might be into watching it since we have the little manger set up at home. Well church was standing room only, complete with police detail outside for traffic, but they both did surprisingly well. There was tons of singing (which they both liked) and mass was still only 1 hour. Josie went right to bed when we got home. Ella set out cookies and milk for Santa and celery for the reindeer since mommy forgot to buy carrots, and then we read "twas the night before Christmas" and she was also off to bed.
She knew exactly which booboo was going to get the first new bandaid.
There are already too many cooks in the kitchen!
We hope you and your family had a very Merry Christmas!

Uncle Dan and Aunt Courtney bought the girls gingerbread house kits for Christmas, so I figured with no school for Ella this week and no weekend plans, it would be a nice lengthy activity. I have never decorated gingerbread houses (at least not as an adult) so I wasn't sure how difficult it would be. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised at how well the frosting stick and how fast it all worked. (The kit was from William Sonoma if anyone is wondering). My only complaint was that I didn't have my own kit because I would have liked to make a really fancy one and I didn't want to be micromanagy with Ella's house (though she did do a very nice job).
While we assembled the houses, Josie started eating her candy decorations. (yes it was 9am).
I did the assembly, and all the frosting squirting. Ella was too nervous to squeeze the tube even for decorating, so she just told me where to put the frosting. The houses had to sit for 30 minutes before decorating.
Ella was very serious about decorating and scolded me when the icing swirls on the roof weren't exactly on the lines.
Josie just wanted me to keep putting frosting in the same spot so she would wipe it off with her finger and lick it.
Then she forgot about using her finger.
Ella decorated all the sides of her house, Josie just the one side. It was really fun, took a good amount of time and was less messy than I thought. And thankfully they had each gotten their own house. I don't think Ella would have handled Josie's decorating techniques on her own house!

It all started with the cookies (again) and has continued on through Harris christmas. Twice through both kids and once for me and Nate. It has travelled through many people along the way and I apologize. I put complete and total blame of the spread of the stomach flu on Josie.

We also exchanged gifts and celebrated Christmas with the Harris's last weekend.
Ella got to hold baby Mark.
Holy Cow! They are all looking!, Well Mark gets a free pass this time, but I mean his eyes are open, so thats something!
He wasn't quite sure what to make of Josies forehead kisses.
A whole stocking full of gifts and all any of them was interested in was the packages of fruit snacks.
Ella and Josie got a nice table and chairs from Beba and Papa!
The girls also got bean bag chairs from Auntie Kate that they (and Harvey) love. Its a good thing we had 2 cars down there or we never would have gotten everything home!
We tried for a family shot. There are several issues with this picture. 1. Colin. He was out plowing the snow so we'll need a redo at another family function. 2. Dan. What's up with the nice shirt? It's faux Christmas morning and we are all in our pajamas.
