Chestnuts Roasting

Yes, he is actually roasting chestnuts on an open fire.... he couldn't even convince Ella to come outside with him. SHe kept standing at the door yelling at him to come inside and then told him it was too windy. She was right, but we bundled up and kept him company anyway (for a few minutes).

Happy Thanksgiving

I didn't get to take very many pictures on Thanksgiving since we were so busy cooking. All the grandparents came up for the day. Everyone arrived really early so we had a full day of eating ahead of us. Here is what we cooked for our first holiday hosted:

Bloody Mary's
Shrimp Cocktail
Lemon Thyme Bruschetta

Jack O Lantern (signature drink of the day)
Squash and Apple Soup

Uncle Neds Cranberry Sauce
Brined Turkey
gorgonzola mashed red potatos
brocollini and garlic
stuffing from scratch
butternut squash
salad

Apple Pie
Chocolate peanut butter pie
Pumpkin Blondies

We lucked out in the weather department and got to spend some time outside too!

Poor Ella wasn't quite herself. She had complained of an earache in the morning and we called the doctors office. Though they were going to see us, they had us give her some motrin and she kept saying she was feeling fine and then it was getting to be closer and closer to dinner time that we called the doctor back and said that we'd call on Friday if she wasn't feeling better, but that we didn't think a holiday urgent visit was really necessary. Well we did bring her on Friday and turns out she has a double ear infection and pneumonia. So we've got some antibiotics, orders to rest for 24 hours, permission to have ice cream for dinner, and an appointment for a recheck next week. I'm sure she'll be much better very soon!

Storytime

Ella loves pretending to be the teacher and reads everyone stories.... she gets her chair out and makes us all sit in the floor. She is really good at holding the book, turning the pages, and "reading" at the same time so everyone can see the pictures!

Lots of girls!

I apologize for the lack of photos lately. I maxed out the storage to be running blogger for free and needed to pay for an upgrade and was kind of not want to. Nate made me just do it though since everyone seems to still be keeping up with the blog so much. I am still annoyed at having to pay though and am debating the idea of letting them put ads on the blog... so if the blog looks different soon, and there are ads on it, thats why. Or else you can all take turns buying me coffee and then we'll call it even.

Cousin Shane

Kate, Colin, and Shane came up this past weekend to watch the girls so we could put in some good moving time. Shane and Josie hit it off! He was very sweet with her all weekend. We were able to get everything done in the condo that we needed to, moved our stuff into storage, moved our other stuff out of storage. We are officially all moved out! Thanks guys!

Meeting baby Caley

The girls and I went to meet baby Caley last week and had a sleepover. Ella was reading Taylor a good morning book, so we decided to put the girls in for a photo op..... It didn't go great.

If Taylor were performing CPR she would have excellent hand placement.

This was the best one we got.

Then we went downhill again.

Then we got the big sister little sister shirts on, and they seemed to do better.

I like this one because Ella and Josie are both doing the same weird thing with their tongue.

These smiles were courtesy of Uncle Pat and his headband!

In case you needed a side by side comparison....

And here we go with the tongue again.

Omi couldn't possibly have knowledge that all her granddaughters were going to be in the same place and not come for a visit.....

We had a great time meeting baby Caley! Thanks for accepting overnight visitors at only 1 week old!

Bumble Tumble

It has been much more difficult for Amy and I to get together during the week now that the kids have started preschools and activities, but the stars were aligned last week and we had a common free day! We had a great visit as always and met at Bumble Tumble in Portsmouth, NH.

playtime with Charlie

Charlie came over for a playdate and Josie was very excited to have her picture taken.

We thought they looked a little more interactive this way...

Charlie the Chameleon baffles me because after I first met him and saw the pictures I thought he looked so much like Baer. Then in person, I saw a lot of Danny, but now after seeing these pictures, I think he looks like Kevin! Regardless, he looks like Charlie though and is a real cutie!

I think our house was the most chaotic and crazy place he has been so far. I hope he enjoyed himself!

Happy Halloween from Dora and her thumb sucking puppy (oh did you miss that episode?)

We did get some interesting looks from people who weren't Dora fans since this costume Ella chose doesn't really look like a costume. She kind of looked like a homeless girl with 2 bags who was out trick or treating with her infant sister dressed as a puppy. We were asked several times by people where we lives who I weren't sure if they were being friendly, curious, and nosey as we are in a new neighborhood or if they were genuinely concerned that we actually didn't live anywhere. (Especially the woman whose house we accidentally went to twice- it was on a corner and we were a little turned around. And then there was the woman who Ella told she had another costume and was going to come back later...) Oh well, she, and we all had a great time!
