Hooray for Brown's Farm

We made our second annual trip to Brown's Farm pumpkin patch with the Neilans.

Shane joined us this year.

It was a beautiful day for a corn maze, some sliding, and of course a hopeful labor inducing hayride (didn't work).

We didn't get a good picture of the kids all together.

High Tide in Hull

These are some pictures of high tide at noon today. The water never really came over the barrier that they put up. The wind became heavy and gusty about 30 minutes after high tide here, so had things aligned differently, it could have been much worse.

No harm to the pig with the goggles. I was tempted to borrow them, I'm not gonna lie.

The winds have really picked up now, but it is too dark to take anymore pictures... I'm not sure whats going on out there.

1 hour before high tide...

Sandy - 8:00am

The sea is getting angry! And the wind has been angry for some time now.  High tide is around noon, then again at around midnight. That's when we expect to see the ocean in the street.

Hunkering down

Earlier this week the town put up some Jersey Barriers in front of the beach. Saturday, they covered them with sand and put sand on the backside of them.... we later learned this is because in the past they have washed down the street in storms and the sand is supposed to help keep them in place... we'll see if that works.

These were the waves this afternoon. It wasn't even raining, the water on the camera lens is all from just  the windy ocean spray.

We figured we were going to be stuck home for a while so we may as well get out while we still could and went to the Halloween at the Carousel in town.

Josie was a cute little puppy.

Ella was Tiny from Dinosaur Train. Unfortunately his head could not attach to the body and was a little top heavy.

Someone needed to hold it up for her.

We forgot the Pecan Sandys

I am usually awake before the sunrise. We are usually busy getting dressed and leaving for work etc that I haven't really had a chance to either take pictures or just sit outside and enjoy it, but Saturday morning, I went outside and sat to watch the sunrise knowing that this was going to be the calm before the storm... It wasn't as bright and colorful as it is somedays, but it was really very pretty and there were several other people wandering around watching the sunrise also.

This is our house for the winter!

I'm a little nervous about where all these ricks will end up with the 30'+ waves that are predicted....

And as I walked back to the house I saw Ella waving to me from the sunporch/ playroom.

The scene is definitely different today, and we have gotten out to take some pictures of the waves. We have brought in everything from the porches, moved our cars, and made essential purchases. I think we should be all set. Now we wait I guess...

Beach Party Tonight

We're loving life at the beach so far. Here's a little comparison of our rental house vs. the condo.

The new place has its downsides, though. They're predicting 0' surf height at the old condo for early next week during Hurricane Sandy, but 18-27' surf here.  We'll keep you posted.

2 thumbs are better than 1

Josie had her 4 month check up yesterday. SHe is 27 inches long (off the charts by a good amount) and 15 lb 7 oz (78%ile). Her weight for length is amusingly in the 5th%ile because that indicates that she is a "string bean" kind of baby but if anyone has seen her thigh rolls, you would know this is not the case! Either way she is healthy and doing great and got the OK to start baby foods. Here are Ella's stats from her 4 month check up... She was a little shorter and heavier than Josie.

Self Sufficient

When I was giving Josie a bottle the other afternoon (just before dinnertime) I heard some racket in the kitchen and called in to see what she was doing. She promptly yelled back that she was getting herself some ice cream.
