Spinning Cups

We tried to ride the viking ship, but after waiting in line and finding a seat, Ella chickened out. The only other ride that adults could fit on were the spinning cups. Since Nate gets motion sickness, I got to ride the cups with Ella.

Before the ride started she was all smiles, even when we were making the cup spin around.

Here she is a little nervous, I am trying to reason with her. She did not like the revolving and the rotating together.... good thing she is not a planet.

And here she is ripping my clothes off because she is so nervous. At least I had a pretty bra on.

Ella look how much fun we can have!

Once she started looking for Nate as we went around she did ok, was smiling, and said she had fun. She actually did want to ride it again.

Earlier this week we received a flyer in the mail about a "Kids Day" carnival in town that was sponsored by a funeral home as a Thank You for their 100th anniversary in business. There were going to be rides, food, etc all free. So anyway when Nate asked me what we were doing this weekend and I showed him the flyer and said "this". He thought/ hoped I was joking. I know he hates massive crowds and really what else could be expected at a free carnival? And then there was the funeral death theme, so he said. So on Saturday morning when the realtor called to say that we were going to have 2 showings that afternoon (yes we are trying AGAIN), he asked what we were going to do to get out of the house, and so I said again, "how about the funeral carnival?" So that was our plan. You would have thought Ella was attending a funeral for all the pouting that she did...

She was all excited to get cotton candy, but pouted and did not want to eat it.

She wanted popcorn instead, but still pouted.

Evening Out

Nate started a new job a few weeks ago and has been trying taking the commuter boat to work, which he loves not only because of the really short walk to his office, but also because of the cocktails and beer available on the boatride home (they may also be available in the morning, I am not sure). We met him at the shipyard on Friday for dinner, and there was a live band playing outside that we listened and danced to for a while after our dinner. It was a really fun night.

Josie loved the music too and was kicking her legs along to every song, both in and out of the carseat.

We haven't been to the zoo as much this summer because earlier I was just too tired to walk that far, and then it was too hot really for anyone to enjoy the trip. But we figured it was a good day to try out our new sit and stand stroller. It'll have more room for Ella once Josie is out of the carseat.

Julie was a trooper and came with us as our personal science teacher to explain butterfly metamorphesis (and bee swatter).

Ella seems to be getting over her fear of carousels.

Sleeping bag

Sometimes Ella likes to just play in her sleeping bag. Yes, it is in the kitchen. She invited Josie to join her for about 45 seconds.

Julie's 2nd baby shower

Julie had her 2nd baby shower thrown by her mom, the Neilan family shower, so we went to that one too. I was too busy to take pictures as you can see on Tif's blog.

Great Grandma Jean is having 4 great grandchildren 6 months. There was me (June), then will be Julie (September), followed by our cousin Amanda (not here, due in October) and then Tif (November). I hope she has been doing her arm exercises!

"I swear Ella's tubbies last longer than this"

Congratulations Bryan and Leigha!

Nate and I went to a lovely wedding in Monroe, CT (I didn't know where it was either) last weekend for his childhood neighbor, Bryan. And while I had never met Leigha before, we were seated in the back row and so I had a perfect spot to take her picture since she did have quite a long way to walk. And we all know that this whole thing isn't about Bryan anyway, sorry.

Beba and Papa

I don't tend to take many pictures at Harris family events, I'm not sure why. I must care more if they think I am being obnoxious than I do around my own brothers. I realized it when making the calendars for Christmas that while I had lots of pictures of this kids, I did not have many pictures of any of the grown ups. I think I got a few good ones.

 Jackets on...

Jackets off...

Dan and Courtney

The Real Harris's

And by far the best pictures of the night..... Kate and Colin (those of you who know Colin will be shocked to know that I did not whiten his eyes in this photo!)

Or wait is this the best picture....?

Or this one?

Or maybe this next one? On a side note, One day a TV ad for HOUSE M.D. was one and Ella was like "oooh it's daddy!" and I really couldn't see the resemblance, but in the above photo, I do see it. Anyone else?

And a blurry one of Nate and I.

Congratulations again to Bryan and Leigha. We had a wonderful time at your wedding!

1st Sleepover

Josie had her first sleepover at Omi and Poppy's house last weekend. We had a wedding to attend in CT, so Ella and Josie spent the night. (No they didn't have to do the contact lens, but we have begin their training so we can go away for more than 1 night ;)   )

2 month stats

Josie had her 2 month appointment today and this is where we shake down:
length: 24 1/4 inches (98%ile)
weight: 12 lbs 11 oz (82%ile)

And since it is hard not to compare, at 2 months Ella was 23 3/4 inches and 12 lb 2.5 oz

We won't mention the shots, only to say that they were not enjoyed by anyone, and the people at the front desk even felt bad for her... they could hear her all the way down the hall, which is surprising since she is usually so quiet.

Miss Smiley

Josie has become super smiley lately. Though she saves her best smiles for Daddy, and also is a little bashful when them camera comes out, but here is she is in all her cuteness.

Julie's Quilting Baby Shower

Nancy, Megan and I planned a small baby shower for Julie. I thought that since she also makes baby quilts for her friend that they could help make a quilt for her. The assignment was that everyone choose the fabric and design for their quilt square and I will sew and quilt them all together for her. I'll post the end product soon I hope.

Megan was the first to jump in...

Instead of cake we got these cookies (a groupon deal) from because we thought that the designs on them look like pieces of fabric.

And here is the mama to be!

The committee.
