Ellas naps have become pretty inconsistant. She still naps at daycare though, but at home, even sometimes after an intensely active morning, she won't nap. This means that she now "helps" me do most of the chores I would squeeze into naptime. As I unloaded 1 bag, she quickly unloaded almost all the others onto the floor saying "What'd you buy mommy?" as she took everything thing out.

Jij hosted an RPI cross country team reunion of sorts at his families cabin in VT. It was a pretty low key weekend (until the potato gun came out) and he made everyone a fantastic dinner.
Thanks again Jij, for hosting us all!
I came down with an unfortunate 24 hour type bug while we were there, so Ella did a lot of running up and down this hallway with breakable objects that she found in the house, like this breakable ceramic basket for example.

I am not offended if you aren't into pregnant belly pictures, but my sisters have requested one, so I feel like I have to put one up. 30 weeks today ladies! Perhaps we should begin getting out the baby furniture. Babycenter.com keeps emailing me and saying that everything should be set up by now.... yikes!
The zoo has some pretty great climbing trees, which Nancy and I sent the girls over to so we could eat our lunch in peace. Unfortunately, tree climbing becomes a little more challenging when one insists on carrying and eating a "rola bar" at the same time.
Don't let the view point of those last couple pictures fool you...
she never got far off the ground. We'll have to practice again, preferably without the granola bar.

Ella and I took advantage of the summer like weather to go to the zoo last week with our friends Nancy, Sarah and Jack. Ella was really excited to see the gorillas and even remembered that there was a waterfall in the gorilla exhibit which she was talking about all morning. Along the lines of her less clingyness- she was willing and excited to go up onto the lookout deck to see the zebras with a bunch of random kids all by herself.
I don't think Ella was quite adjusted to the hot 85 degree temperatures and rode around the zoo in the stroller the entire time we were there... she rarely will ride in the stroller. I honestly just brought is so I didn't need to carry a backpack for our lunch and camera; I didn't think she was going to sit in it!
Ella got a little more lively at the indoor exhibits. Here are the girls checking out the hissing cockroaches.
This exhibit was just of some finch type birds, but Ella was pointing out to Sarah all the dinosaurs she saw. Sarah, who is 4, was a good sport and just let her yammer on and on.
We got to see the lion roll over this visit! I have never seen the lion do anything other than nap. I have sprinted (Ella either in stroller or in arms with a stroller) many, many times across the zoo when the lion has been roaring in hopes to witness it. We did hear him roar a few times while we were at other exhibits, but being 30 weeks pregnant, I think my days of sprinting towards a roaring lion are over (at least until July).

So the parade finally started, and yes indeed there was candy. Tons of candy. The people passing out the candy would just throw it right to Ella's feet. She didn't even have to get up and race other kids to get the candy like at the parades I remember as a kid.
Ella loved the parade. Besides the candy, she liked pointing out all the different band instruments and also liked the decorations on the floats and trucks. I'm glad I have someone else who can talk Nate into attending events like this (though if you look at his pictures, he doesn't seem like he is having a miserable time, and he liked the candy as much as Ella did).
I tried to capture how filthy she was (a downside to actually being able to sit at a parade) but this totally does not do it justice. Then to top it all off, she was so exhausted and fell asleep in the car.

After the firetrucks we waited and waited and waited probably for 20 minutes, but it seemed like forever when we thought the parade had already started (and we still didn't have any candy).
Lucky for me, Ella was in a kissing mood.
Then she got some rocks ready for her dinosaur to eat.
Then we relaxed a little bit.
Then we thought the parade started again, but it stopped right away and this guys were standing in front of us for another 15 minutes or so (they also had no candy).

We went to a small local parade which was last SUnday when it was 75 degrees out. Ella was sporting her only green clothing item, the hair bow. I had heard that this was a good and very family friendly parade with lots of candy, so we told Ella that they would be throwing candy from the parade. As soon as we arrived and found a spot, she promptly sat down and was asking where the candy was. She was pretty patient about waiting.
Here come the firetrucks!
The firetrucks were really loud, and Nate was trying to cover her ears,
but she didn't mind the noise. They did not throw candy from the firetrucks.

Kate and Colin got Ella a DR Kit for Christmas and she has been getting tons of use out of it lately. She has been coming with me to all my prenatal appointments and has been more and more relaxed with each visit and less concerned that they are hurting me. Ella loves to give check-ups to her dolls, me, and Nate. I am lucky enough to get one everyday, she also listens to the babies heartbeat. Maybe I can tell my OB that I'd like to cut back on my visits.

Ella very accurately acts out her bedtime routine with her dollhouse people complete with saying her prayers. And yes you are hearing correctly during the "Hail Mary" prayer she says the word "cheese-its" instead of "Jesus". I loose it sometimes when we are saying prayers before bed and she does that.

Ella is losing lots of her "baby" qualities and turning into quite a big girl. She is beginning to correct a lot of the words she mispronounces, and they are the cutest word errors, I will miss them... She now says "computer" instead of "maputer" and she no longer says "ertoise" for "turquoise". She still mispronounces that though as "certoise". That and she now can sport a legit ponytail! I'm glad she still loves a goldfish snack!
