Another perk of being the second born.... yes I asked Ella to give her another lick so I could take a picture of it.

Ella slept until 6:40 am and was the first one up (well my parents were up really early, when Ella woke up the coffee was already made and the music and tree lights were already on) My mom was waiting downstairs with the camera as everyone came down and she got this great picture of Ella in awe of the tree. Luckily she overlooked the toys r us and homegoods bags that Santa left some gifts in...
Josie always wakes up happy though I think she was smiling at poppy and not because of the tree.
Ella knew and promptly grabbed her stocking. Still no cousins awake yet.
So I had this great plan of setting up the video camera and recording all of the gift opening. I envisioned it as being a crazed event of paper flying and gifts being opened at rapid fire pace. Then I was going to make a movie in fastforward of the whole thing. There were several flaws in my plan though. There were no boy children opening gifts, i.e. nothing fast paced and certainly no paper flying. Also the camera only filmed about 15 minutes before it just turned off and of those 15 minutes, at least 5 was Ella just sitting looking at the tree waiting for people to come so she could pass out gifts and or maybe open one. The other 10 minutes was me, Nate and my mom discussing whose pull-up and diaper needed to be changed, had leaked, etc and always at some point someone was standing almost directly in front of the camera. So this was all that was worth seeing. Maybe I'll try again next year.
Ella showing her favorite gift, a box of bandaids.
At one point Ella was very cute and just overcome with happiness yelled out "Merry Christmas Poppy!" and ran over to give him a hug.
Uncle Ryan helped Josie open her duffle bag. (Both Ella and Josie got wheeled duffles with their names embroidered on them. Doesn't seem to go with our plan/ resolution of less travel)
Ella, the helper, passing out gifts. She had a huge stack of things to open, but preferred this.
Ella did share her most prized gift with Taylor rather willingly.
Ella sharing/ teasing Josie with the orange. In case you are unfamiliar with the "annoying orange" just search for it on youtube.
wait, we have to go to church now?
Omi had Ella put chocolate truffles on all the place settings. This seemed to backfire later though because even though Ella does really like eating much chocolate, she knew where they were and how to open them so Taylor could taste them all.
My mom and my aunt; I hope Ella and Josie are this close one day!
Being 2 means you hide from way older cousins and relatives that you don't see too much.
Being 3 means that you ask them to play games on their phones.
A bunch of the gang. We hope you all had a Merry Christmas!

Tif and I had some cooking to do, and the daddies had some shopping to do so that meant the girls got to watch some Dinosaur Train and Frosty the Snowman.
They also had craft projects to keep them busy, and Uncle Ryan helped supervise.
Lots of Girls!
Ella "kissing" Josie
Taylor "kissing" Caley
And finally time for goodnight, ready for Santa to come! (Omi needs a bigger lap)
Of course there were matching PJ's!. Actually there were 2 nights of matching jammies.

When the Christmas celebration lasts for 4 days, there is only one way really to organize the pictures and that is by day... We headed to my parents house on Sunday and all the cousins got to hang out.
bellyrub time. Taylor loves rubbing Josie's belly. I'm not sure why.

How many therapists does it take to treat 1 baby? Too many if you ask Josie! Sometimes being cute and laid back probably doesn't help you out when there are therapists looking for things to do at the office and rattling off ideas, like this one of putting the bumbo seat on the astronaut board and spinning Josie around in circles.

Our neighbor Maddie had her first birthday party last weekend. The party activity was gingerbread med decorating... Very fun for kids of all ages. The kids all got a little goodie box with an apron and decorating supplies.
This is why you don't eat cookies made by children.
Here is Ella's cookie. It was the neatest of all the cookies. I think because she didn't put icing again on top of the candy...
Thanks for a great party Maddie!

Ella got to enjoy some one on one play time with Uncle Ryan after the party, and he taught her how to play angry birds on his phone (I have never played). She also played school with Ryan where she was the teacher and he had to sit on the mat and she read stories to him. She also played a pretend book on tape which she made us sit and "listen" to... It was pretty funny, she actually got up to turn on the imaginary CD player.

After the birthday party, we headed to the Harris' to celebrate Christmas. Ella said she was too tired to open presents and she wanted to "just skip to bedtime". So we did just that and put all the kids to bed early. Kate and Colin decided to spend the night and so then we opened presents together the following morning.
Shane loves Josie. He was laying like this for a while (long enough for me to take like 25 pictures) and was stroking her hair and babbling to her. She loved it!
