Happy Halloween

More pictures from Halloween to come later this week!

Arts and Crafts

The girls both had pumpkins to paint. Surprisingly, Taylor preferred finger painting to using the brush!

Ella put many thick layers of paint on her pumpkin!

We were down for the weekend visiting Pat, Tif, and Taylor. We all got to go on a practically empty hayride together.... something that would never happen anywhere in MA on a Saturday. So nice!

Ella was not so thrilled with sitting and waiting for the hayride to start, so I pulled out the most fool proof bribe I have, lollipops. Taylor was really wanting some.

We asked her mom, before we encouraged Ella to share it, and I think she thought it was delicious!

Once the ride got moving, Ella loved it. In fact when you ask her what she did last weekend, she doesn't just list the people we saw, she says "I went on a hayride."

Taylor had a nice spot to lounge.

Brown's Harvest

We went to pick pumpkins in Windsor, CT last weekend. Well we thought that they had apple picking also, but they didn't. And we didn't need any pumpkins, so we looked at pumpkins instead.

Ella has taken a liking to cider donuts (and cider too).

She rode a tractor.

And was dragged into a corn maze... that was a far as she got. She wanted to go down the slide instead.

It was worth a shot...

In case you are wondering, she did not get to have a red (or any other color) popsicle for breakfast.

Ella has been trying to sing more, rather than just dictating what she wants us to sing for her. Her rhythm is a little off, but here she is singing "Old McDonald"

Painting Pumpkins

We got a pumpkin at the festival, and Beba and Ella painted it together while we were a the wedding.

The next day she decided that she wasn't finished yet and that it needed another coat of paint!

Look at that concentration!

Congratulations Laura and Pat!

Beba came up to visit and watch Ella while we went to the wedding. We had a great afternoon at the Weymouth pumpkin festival, and they had a blast while we were out!

Thanks Laura and Pat for throwing a great party!

1st haircut

We were out and about last weekend and walked by "snip-its" a kid designed hair salon. I thought I wanted to get Ella's haircut before the holidays to even out the back from the last time I had trimmed it. It was a little uneven. So we popped in to see if you needed an appointment. You didn't. And there was no one else there, and Ella was running around playing with all the stuff, so we decided we'd give it a try. We was way less excited when I tried to put her in the chair doing a good "stiff as a board" move. So I told her "they give out lollipops when you are all done, so if you sit in the chair, then you can have a lollipop." She quickly sat in the chair, and she just sat like this the entire time, except once in a while she would mutter to herself "I want my lollipop." When she was done, she picked a lollipop out of the basket, and got a toy from the mystery toy machine, and a 1st hair cut official certificate! Big day.

Higher Education

Knocking on the door of higher education at Harvard.

Ella has been pulling out her hamper, and hiding in the closet, all the time.

The other day Ella was pointing out all the circles on her PJ's to me, so I said to her "Did you know that when there are lots of circles, they are called polka dots?" To which Ella responded "No, it's M&M's" WHo can argue with that?

"A Born Baby"

Ella and I went to meet baby Brynn when she was only 3 days old. She is very cute! Rory is loving being a big sister (as you can see). Ella wasn't quite as indifferent as she looks here, she was waiting for me to get out of the way of the TV (she and Rory were watching Team Umizoomi). I think Brynn enjoyed having some time with the big girls!

2 year check up

Ella had her 2 year check up a couple days ago. She is 35 3/4 inches tall (90%ile) and her weight has only changed by .3 oz. She weighs 27 lb 7 oz (dropped to the 60%ile) She is turning into quite the string bean I guess. Everything else was good, she was climbing and jumping off the step stool and the scale throughout the appointment and demanding craisins. The doctor was impressed with how articulate she is, to which my reply was "you have no idea..."

No shots today! SHe got the flu mist in the nose, which she didn't like but tolerated. And she was tough as nails when they pricked her finger for the hemoglobin test, fought back tears and had a little quivery lip which was heartbreaking, but she was a tough cookie!

Hopefully we won't be back until next year!

Flowers on the farm

Ella was very good about only smelling the flowers. I think she only picked one!

There really couldn't have been a nicer spot to take pictures! Unfortunately we didn't have anything to bribe the kids with to sit on the bench, and they were more interested in smelling than sitting.

Saying "goodbye". Thomas was very affectionate towards Ella all day; she wasn't as into the hugging as he was today.

Pumpkins at the farm

Ella started lining up all the small pumpkins.

Luckily Acadia and Thomas were happy to join in on the rearranging project.

We were so focused on the "no climbing on the pumpkins rule" that we didn't stress too much about the dropping pumpkins. I actually didn't even know she did this until I looked at the pictures.

After they lined up all the pumpkins we told them to put them back, and they happily did! Ella left a spot just big enough for her bum though...

This was the only picture of all 3 kids. They wouldn't get any closer together than this.

I was not quite prepared for the weather. In the orchard it was pretty warm, but the picnic tables were in the shade, and it was freezing. Ella borrowed my vest.

She rode on the tire horses this time! Here are the pictures from last year!

Apple Picking at Cider Hill Farms

Amy and I met in Amesbury, MA at Cider Hill Farms again to take the kids apple picking. Ella loved eating the apples right off the tree!

She had a hard time keeping up with all the eating she was doing...

Ready for winter

We brought our summer things (beach chairs etc) to storage recently. Unfortunately since our storage unit is so parked, when something goes in, something has to come out. So out came the winter hats and mittens. The mittens she wants on and off and on and off, but the hats she will wear for hours.

Welcome Baby Brynn

Will and Rory's baby sister arrived today, 11 days late, but right on time! Congratulations Lauren, Ryan, Will, and Rory. We can't wait to meet her!

Can you see her in there?

A farm stand near our house has a broken down firetruck that kids (and the chickens and turkeys) can play on. She climbed in here by herself!

They also have a petting zoo with goats and sheep (Nate has brought her here before). We were looking at the animals and she grabbed my hand and said "Let's go find the lions!" I was like oooh boy, we are not at that kind of zoo....
