no rules...

We didn't have the heart to also enforce rules about climbing on benches...

or rocks

or trees

or each other!

No Climbing....

The hardest part about a statue park is the no climbing rule...

It's just so tempting.

DeCordova

By the end of the summer, Julie was really bored and needed some entertainment in the form of joining Lauren, the kids, and me with the DeCordova Sculpture museum. She even volunteered to ride in the way back of the minivan!

The kids thought it was funny to pick the nose of this plagiocephaly statue...

Just a relaxing picnic...

irresistable

And the storm came...

Ella couldn't have been more excited to wear her raincoat when we went to church this morning.

It only rained for a few hours and then continued being pretty windy for several more and we lost power for a few more... not really a huge deal.

Ella thought it was funny how windy it was outside.

Look at that hair blowing!

Come On Irene

Sorry Jay, I just couldn't resist...

We basically did not much at all yesterday but got ready for the storm. I even scrubbed the bathtub in case we have to drink water out of it. (the thought of it still grosses me out!)

We went down to Nantasket beach though to enjoy the calm before the storm.

(In a completely unrelated note- Ella will still not wear jeans willingly "TOO TIGHT" but she will wear jeggings.)

Old Friends

So then we thought that we should take a picture of the moms and all the kids....

This is the best we got!

Claire was laying at our feet screaming for this one...

We haven't seen Beth in about 5 years, and it was great to reconnect. Hopefully we'll see them again soon. We also came to the conclusion that we look pretty damn good for almost 10 years out of college!

Nate, why didn't you tell me to take my sunglasses off?

there was 5 in the bed and the little one said....

We were ready to walk out the door to head home when someone suggested a group photo of the kids. Ella was running on fumes and so here is the photo with all the kids smiling except for Ella with her sourpuss on! SO not like her.

I think thats right...

And we're done.

Lots of Kids

The James family came up to visit for lunch. It was pretty much impossible to get all 5 kids playing in the same photo, but here are 4 of them.

All the kids played and shared the toys much better than anyone expected!

Somehow the kids got all the good seats at the table for lunch.

Petting Zoo

Nate took Ella to a petting zoo down the street from our house.

Apparently the goats were really noisy and she was a little nervous.

They also had a broken down firetruck that the kids could play on.

Nate wasn't sure how friendly turkeys are, so he didn't let her pet it.

And an afternoon out wouldn't be complete without an ice cream cone. (I was at a bridal shower, in case you were wondering.)

Another children's museum

My mom came up for the day, and it happened to be free Friday at the Easton Children's museum, so we decided to check it out.

I was expecting it to be really crowded, but I was not expecting there to be a 2 hour wait to get into the museum. Luckily there were some outdoor exhibits to play on.

And as goes with what I like about Children's Museums, we brought lunch and ate while we waited.

When we finally got inside, it was kind of crazy with older kids, but I think Ella enjoyed it.

Her favorite part was the dinosaur room! About 20 minutes after we got into the museum, Ella laid down on a carpet square to take a nap... Oh well. It was a nice preview anyway.

Peep's World

There was a Peep's World exhibit there too, and I have never seen the show (neither has Ella) but the exhibit consisted of a bunch of water tables and then some sandboxes with sparkly sand. Ella was very serious about her water play. I was surprised she didn't put up more of a fight about the smocks!
