Old Orchard Beach

Going to the beach with little kids means not relaxing..... It means digging holes.

Ella had her first amusement park experience there. This was the first and only ride she would go on. She was actually saying "again, again" when it was over, so we thought she would try others, but nope.... We should have just let her stay on this one. It took her a little bit to decide if she liked it or not, and she did!

She was more interested in the buttons behind the steering wheel though.

And yes, we were "those" people on the carousel who sat on the bench. It was so hot, look at how gross our hair is!

Peaks Island

We went to Maine to visit with Amy and Chris and decided to take the ferry over to Peaks Island for a little picnic lunch.

Unfortunately the sand was SO hot you couldn't even walk on the beach. Ella had to sit on a little block of wood and eat on the cooler wet sand.

It was the perfect day for an ice cream cone...

for an ice cream cone to melt anyway.

New Medium

We tried out watercolors for the first time which was exciting. She had a hard time understanding why she couldn't just pour the cup of water on the table, or on the paints...

She is ready for a lesson, Beba!

Dining Al Fresco

Sometimes we have 2 breakfasts: one inside, and one while playing in the little pool outside.

Happy Birthday Beba

This does not mean that I will remember this for everyone's birthdays so, if you do not get a personalized video for your birthday I apologize in advance.....

Look alike?

Kate had Shane's newborn portraits done by Debbie who also did her wedding and Ella's newborn portraits. I thought last week when we were visiting that they had a resemblance to each other, but now after seeing his pictures and looking back at Ella's, we definitely think that they look alike- and their eyes are exactly the same dark shade of blue in these pictures.

Shane has more hair, and Ella has a much pinker skintone, but do you see it?

More Cousins

Ella and I took a day trip to visit with Kate and baby Shane. Tif and Taylor joined us at the playground for some lunch.

Yup 3 kids under age 2 in a portrait- this is as good as it gets!

Ella pays the most attention to Shane when he cries since he then sounds like her baby doll. She hear him crying from the other room at one point and ran in yelling "It's OK baby. It's ok baby"

We asked Ella to give Shane a kiss....

and she did. We are practicing using our lips for kissing, but here it just looks like she is going to suffocate him with her cheeks!

The visit was so exciting Ella wouldn't take a nap. The closest we got was her resting in Suzie's bed! Ella did though take the opportunity of being at Kate's house to practice walking up and down the stairs. She went up ad down Kates stairs about 10 times (at least) to get and then return toys all by herself!

Ella and (a different) Henry Sitting in a Tree

Ella met this little boy Henry at the playground. (He was actually Kate's friend's son, so I wasn't taking pictures of a random kid...) They made fast friends and were off playing and chasing each other around.

Henry was showing off his jumping skills for her, particularly his ability to jump off of the playground equipment (he is 3). He would point to a step and say "Do you want me to jump from this one?" and Ella would laugh, and he would do it, and then she would giggle, and he would do it again.

The landing, and giggle.

When we got home I told Nate the story and when he was talking to Ella later this was their conversation:
Nate: Did you meet a boy, Henry at the playground today?
Ella: laughing
Nate: was he funny?
Ella: laughing
Nate: what was he doing?
Ella: "he jumping off the steps."

My photo model

My photography class is officially over. And while I am a little sad- it was fun having the assignments to do, Nate is not so much. Most of the assignments required a "cooperative subject" and an almost 2 year old does not meet the criteria of a "cooperative" subject. So that left Nate (and Julie got roped in for one assignment too) He was a good sport even though he would just have to sit and I would change settings and take picture after picture. Thanks Nate. Here are some of the good ones! At least now he is used to getting his picture taken!
