Ella was not quite herself on our trip, she was more whiny than usual and was asking for her noonie and huggie ALL the time. We just attributed it to being overtire from traveling, not sleeping well in a hotel room with us, and having a baby around. When she threw up on the plane, we figured it was just because of her ears popping during landing. Well Monday when we got home, she spiked a fever of 102 and sure enough has an ear infection. It may be her second ear infection or possibly the first one never resolved. Either way, the poor baby was not herself for a couple days. She got to spend a nice day of TLC home with daddy though which I think really got her feeling better :)

Uncle Ryan decided to brave the plane ride and hotel sharing with an active toddler. Whenever Ella would start to look like she was going to cry, he would sternly tell her "Ella, NO CRYING". And she would listen to him!!! I wish Nate and I had the same effect... He was a real trooper even when Ella threw up on the plane ride home. He turned around to ask the people or flight attendant behind is for a bag because "this baby over here threw up". They all tried to give us their tiny barf bags and he just laughed at them and said "oh no, it's too late for that. We need a bag for all our clothes!"
He got a little naptime in with Taylor!
Uncle Ryan is a great uncle, and I think he enjoyed spending a weekend with his nieces, but I think that he is glad that, for now, he is just an uncle!

I got the girls matching outfits of course!
Taylor's crying made Ella a little nervous...
Though she did have a nice selection of toys that Ella enjoyed playing with instead.
She especially liked this gift bag filled with coupons! Of course we had packed her 1 1/2 suitcases filled with toys...

We tried to make mom happy and take some family shots!
Trying to do a "lion king" style pose here.... Ella is a little too heavy for this now!
My mom bought Ella and Taylor these coordinating hats for Christmas. Ella's is a little snug now!

But Sunday, the kids were all a little sick of sharing toys and being inside. What better to do than pack a lunch and head to an indoor playground? This place was way better than anywhere I have been in MA. It was a large old factory turned loft space, and was divided up nicely into sections so it was way less overstimulating and more natural feeling than any of the other places we have tried this winter.
She was pretty easily guided out of the "baby/princess" room.
The cool thing about this place is that is actually has staff, not just a person at the desk taking your money. There was a story time, with a great animated person who had memorized the book and encouraged "class" participation. We haven;t been to story time before, so maybe they are all like this, I'm not sure. As it was our first story time experience, I think she did pretty good, she sat for 3/4 of the 30 minute event. They also had a face painter. Our face painting tolerance has decreased since the pumpkin festival. Ella chose a blue mitten, and all we were able to get was a blue squiggly line... sort of a lightening bolt?
It seemed that we were the only brave souls that packed and ate lunches!
The only disappointment was the ball pit. They advertised a "huge" ball pit, but I think that to qualify as a "pit" it needs to be more than 1 ball deep! Ella didn't care though, she dove right in!

Nate "caught" Ella pretending to put make-up on one of the dolls... Boy, we are going to be in trouble when she is a teenager!
Amy and I built pretty much the greatest indoor fort ever!
Ella finger painted with paint and shaving cream for the first time. It took her a little while to get into it....
But as you can see, she did!

We spent a weekend in Maine with Amy and Chris. There was lots of preparations to do before the snow came.
The forecast was for ice and rain so we figured we better get some sledding in before. What better place to sled then in the front yard?!
I think I counted 15 pictures in this pose and this is the only one when they are all almost "smiling" and looking at the same camera! Excuse all their hair, this was right after sledding and they all have hat head.
You can't get ready for a winter storm without roof raking. Nate and Chris spent most of the day Saturday raking and shoveling up on the roof. Neither of them needed a hospital visit, so we will call it a success!

Julies friend is a Mary Kay consultant and she wanted to try out their new foundation on us to learn more about it and how it looked etc, so she came over along with a few other of our friends and we played with make-up. Ella loves everything girlie, especially make-up. Here she is collecting various products.
In addition to hoarding the q-tips and hiding them in her overall pocket, she was pretending to put make-up on in the rest of these picture, sometimes in unusual places like under her chin...
Who doesn't love a little lip gloss?

Ella and I went to meet my friend Karen's baby, Kaylee who is 3 weeks old. She was very good and was awake for our entire visit. Karen told me this was the longest she has been awake at one time ever. Apparently Ella was very stimulating. Ella was very good and wasn't upset at all when I held the baby which surprised me a little. She also was much more aware of the babies location than I thought she would be seeing how she seems to have no idea she is walking through a large pile of toys most of the time. She walked by a little close for comfort sometimes, (especially given her occasional clumsiness) but always walked around the baby.
Ella entertained Kaylee by shaking her play mat to make all the rattles move and make noise at once. Karen and I couldn't help but laugh at the whole thing!
Get ready Taylor, she is coming to your house soon!

Besides just being cute, Ella has been doing lots of new things lately. She is talking a TON! She can ask for things she wants "orange" "juice" "baby" "banana". She has taken to announcing when she is doing something she knows she isn't supposed to do, but saying "no, no". She says "please" pretty consistantly, and has also said "thank you" "good morning" and "god bless you". She is starting to put 2 words together and will say "more sing" She said "I love you" for the first time the other day! So cute... Speaking of singing, Ella is very particular about that songs we sing. In the car, if a song comes on that she doesn't like, she will emphatically shout "NO!" from the back seat. She keeps asking to sing for a particular song, but I have no idea what song she wants so I will just start singing anything, which used to satisfy her: not anymore. Now she will just shake her head and repeat "No... no...no..." while still shaking her head. It is hysterical!
She is very fair when she is in the mood to give out kisses. She will kiss me (really offering her cheek for me to kiss) and then say "too? too?" meaning that she wants Nate to kiss her too. She does this even if we are in different rooms or if there are more than just 2 people!

Our friends have an adorable golden lab puppy who Ella got to meet when he was 13 weeks old. He was a little too fiesty for her, and just couldn't resist jumping up to get the chips she was walking around with. She got a little bit braver though when he was sleeping.
Ut oh, she woke him up!
