More Party fun

Ella was too little to drive a moon buggy this year, but she did try out this little bike.

And got to see if she wanted to be an astronaut when she grows up.

Here is a better picture of the cakes, and a picture of the birthday boy and girl!

And there was Ella eating her first cupcake. She actually didn't have any of the cake, just a large handful of green alien frosting which I didn't realize until after had M&M eyes. Luckily it was pretty hot and the chocolate was pretty soft and easy to chew. Oops!

We had to leave the party early because it was way past naptime, but before we left Will made sure to give Ella her special baby party gift bag. He is such a sweet boy. He actually came over to see what Ella was doing several times during the party despite having all his big boy friends there and fun party games. We love it that Ella has such nice friends to grow up with and that we get to see them so much!

Thanks for such a fun afternoon!

Happy Birthday Will and Rory

Lauren throws the best, most creative birthday parties I have ever attended. Every year she totally outdoes herself! Luckily they have birthdays close to each other, and both in the summertime. Rory's party was Toy Story Alien theme, and Will's was themed from the magic treehouse books he likes and more specifically the trip to the moon.

Here is the birthday girl in her moonsand box, with a moon buggy behind her.

Rory had alien cupcakes, and Will had a brownie moon cake!

We loved visiting with everyone. Here is Ella right when we arrived (still clean) with Sarah.

Ella doesn't usually have per pacifier during the day. She only has it at naptime, bedtime, and in the car and is perfectly content with leaving it in the crib when we take her out. She does love it though and if she happens to find it at other times, it is hard to resist. It was pretty comical watching her put it in her mouth when it was attached to the bag, everytime she turned her head it would pop out and she would be surprised, turn around, find it and try again!

Omi came up for a trip to the zoo. Ella was much more aware of what was going on this trip (she was awake). It was kind of a muggy day outside so most of the animals were sleeping, and I don't think Ella could see them because she didn't know what they were yet. They were just part of the scenery, but the animals that were moving around, she definitely was interested in. She would follow the ocelot moving in the tree, watching it go. Most of the gorillas were sleeping too, but this one was so close to the glass and it was looking around and checking out all the people. Ella was reaching out to touch it. The zoo volunteer said that they were going to be fed shortly and that then they are really active. She also told us that the female gorillas are very interested in human babies and often come up to them to interact. Ella had kind of had it by then, so we didn't hang around the 2 hours until feeding time, but that is good to know. Maybe we can find out the feeding schedule before our next trip!

Dairy Queen!

Ella is a little dairy queen. She loves to eat her cheese, yogurt, and you guessed it- ICE CREAM. We went to DQ one night and Nate shared a cone with her. (I couldn't part with the chocolate sprinkles.)

She gets a little nuts when you take it away from her. Usually any event involving ice cream will end in tears at some point, but it is so cute to see her enjoy something so much!

Hamming it up!

She loves to have her picture taken, and as soon as she sees the camera, she will laugh (she has a new "fake" laugh now) and smile for the camera.

This is when she had that temp by the way. Thankfully she isn't too much of a complainer if you keep her distracted. She just has a much shorter fuse when she's not feeling good.

Does anyone know where the phrase "hamming it up" comes from or what it actually means because when you think about it, it makes no sense....

Hand me downs...

My mom gave me this shirt that was mine when I was little, and I think it is just too cute! Most of the little dresses are way too small. Being 2 months older for the first summer, and I think uch longer than I was, Ella doesn't fit into a lot of the things my mom saved, but this was a keeper (though it probably fit me when I was almost 2, not almost 1)

We think that Ella is teething... I mean she is 9 months old, at some point that tooth is going to make its grand appearance. She was a good sport all weekend in Maine, kind of cranky and was getting a goopy tear duct again (cat allergy like mom?) And when we got home she had a low grade temp on and off for a couple days.... but still no tooth. Really- we have noticed the drool and lots of clear buggers for a while now. When will it come? One thing that can bring relief, and fun seems to be mini-Popsicles. She can hold the little ones herself, but she looks like way too much of a big girl doing it all by herself!

Ella didn't mind sharing her tubbie especially in that huge jacuzzi tub.

Cooler Toys

Staying at a house where there are 2 kids, means getting to share lots and lots of their cool new toys!

- yes the drool... it is a losing battle.

This was her favorite (can't you tell)! She was so proud of herself that she is "walking".

The dad's got in plenty of playtime too!

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all the wonderful Dad's and Dads-to-be out there!!

I love to watch Nate play with Ella. It is totally different than when I play with her, or even when we are all doing something together. She loves it so much!

She is getting too big for the bjorn. We need to find a hiking backpack of some sort... And by the way- her arms are out like that because she is excited and is reaching and opening and closing her fists, not because of the carrier...

Flag Day

We spend last weekend in Maine at Amy and Chris' annual flag day party. The weather was a little blah, but it was nothing a little campfire couldn't fix!

Work station

The next project was for Nate and Baer to cut out the bottom of this cabinet so we would have a built in computer station. Baer had lots of cool tools and now Nate has a long wish list...

1154 Lill

Julie decided to have me, Nicole, and Gretchen design our own handbags for our bridesmaids gifts. Julie got to design one for my wedding, and even though it was very stressful for her to make so many difficult decisions, she thought it was still a good enough idea to repeat!

I designed an all neutral black and white bag which I am very excited about!

And since Nate was working on another house project that day, Ella got to tag along.

Now that she has mastered the art of pulling up to stand on furniture, she has moved on to more challenging things.

Couch Potato!

The TV is up! Woohoo. We are still working on getting a table for below the tv to put the cable box etc, and we know we need to hide the wires- well I know we need to hide the wires, I think Nate hopes I just forget about them...

They are having a baby!!!

Pat and Tif are expecting a baby in early January, and Ella is very excited to be a big cousin. We haven't seen them since this visit and we can't wait until they are home in July to give them all a big hug! Word of advice, to Pat and Tif- look out for Ella's kisses, they are exceptionally slobbery these days!

Congratulations to you!

Ella didn't enjoy the vineyards as much as we did. But she did enjoy the carousel. Unfortunately I had left my camera battery charging while we were there, so unless I get a picture send from someone, it'll have to wait until next time...

Memorial Day weekend

For Memorial Day weekend, we took the cross sound ferry to Long Island where we had rented a house with Nate's RPI roommates. It was Ellas first time meeting them, and actually my first time spending time with most of them. I had met them all at the wedding, but that doesn't really count.

They taught her how to high-5.

She was the only one who packed an RPI sweatshirt for the occasion!

Work In Progress

An update on our renovation project... Dad and Ryan came up to help snake the cable wire through the ceiling for our new flat screen tv. They also replaced our circuit panel to install an electrical outlet in the wall. We appreciate all your help and can't wait until this is all done and you can come watch a nice TV.

They had fun using the rare earth magnets to locate the screws on the studs in the ceiling...

Afterwards we needed to try to match the ceiling texture, which I tried to do the following afternoon.

This is the messiest thing I think I have ever done. It is now a little more textured in that spot, but I think that now that it is painted white, it looks pretty good- but I know I need to try real hard to not point it out to people.

I'm not sure if she is more interested in Rory or in Rory's pacifier...

A trip to teaticket wouldn't be complete without a trip to seafood sams. In every picture of Will and Ella, she is staring at him like this... I think he is explaining to her that the lobster will light up when her food is ready, and that the plastic lobster is not what she is supposed to be eating for dinner.

Here is Lauren! Will and Rory had matching cape cod sweatshirts on, so we thought Ella needed one too.

It was pretty much the most obnoxious thing ever that Nate and I went to buy Ella's cape cod sweatshirt while we were wearing ours!
