Ella and I attended our first bridal shower of the wedding season, and she got to wear her first frilly party dress. (and I noticed for the first time in a picture that I have wrinkles)
Someone is getting a little too squirmy to be happy to sit and chit chat.
But she does tend to poop herself out pretty easily! I'm just glad that when she is really tired she will still give in to sleeping: even though it was during the make a toilet paper bride game! We totally would have won if we could have made Ella into the bride. I guess we all make sacrifices!

Nate and Ryan were playing catch so Nate could practice using his new first base glove. Sampson was running between them as though he was also playing. Ella just sat still (not very common anymore) and was watching the dog run back and forth back and forth.

Ella started really creeping yesterday! She had done it a little just to get closer to a toy she wanted, but hadn't figured out that she could do it to go places. Today it finally clicked trying to get what you might wonder.... a comb. All afternoon I would take the comb and move it and she would go get it. I tried to get her to go get other things, but there was just no interest. I was tempted to see if she would creep toward the cheerios box, but I thought enticing her with food was not the best idea!

Ella and I went up to Portsmouth, NH to meet Amy and the kids for lunch. Amy and I had a ncie visit and the kids, well here they are, making a huge mess.
Here is under the table when we were just about finished. We cleaned it up before we left of course! She is not this messy at home. She still uses a "raking" grasp to pick up her food and is able to do it using the lip on the tray of her booster seat, but there was no lip on the table so most of the food just went right onto the floor...
Eventually the pickle even ended up there...

Here is Ella and Nanny.
We went to visit Great Grandma Fran in the nursing home which was a little challenging. She was just a little too squirmy for Grandma to hang onto this time.
But they still enjoyed playing together.
Ella did not really want to be held while we were there of course. She wanted to crawl around, but the floor was just too gross, so she got to ride on grandmas walker with Papa! We joked about pushing her around in the basket, but didn't try it (this time...)
Since Kate also works there, she thought she would show Ella off to some of the other patients. This picture cracks me up because Ella is just dangling there and that man was smiling to huge at her and she was smiling right back at him! I didn't see up close, but I bet he didn't have any teeth either!

We spent Mother's Day in West Suffield. Ella got to try out the new swing that Papa put up for her in the front yard.
And she was much more interested in the horse this time. I will take some better pictures of the horse for you next time, Nanny, when it's not so windy...

My cousin Danny came to babysit with Julie for a few hours while Nate and I used our massage gift certificate and Ella was practicing her kissing technique. As you can see she aims for the nose!
Danny was a good sport because Ella had a cold and was pretty boogery that day! I hope he didn't get too slimey- I didn't even know about this until I looked at the camera later that weekend...
Here is Ella and Dan. As I've said before, she loves men with beards!

Ella doesn't "say cheese" yet when we take her picture, but she does smile whenever I take the camera out (briefly).
And speaking of cheese, she eats it now! Nevermind that she still has NO teeth (even though I blame everything on "teething" there isn't much sign of a tooth coming anytime soon) she can also eat carrots, corn, peas, beans pieces of most fruit including mango and pineapple and of course there are cheerios. She has tried pieces of chicken, though I can't say that she successfully eats it- she chews on a piece for a really long time, but it never quite goes away. We usually find a smaller, mushier piece of chicken somewhere later. Who says you need teeth to eat?!

"What do you mean, I'm supposed to sit ON the blanket?"
We have actually given up on the blanket since she moves around so much, but the landscapers had put out fertilizer a couple days before this and it hadn't rained yet... oh well I tried, and she had a bath after.
Can you tell that I LOVE this outfit? I think she wears it the day after I do laundry every time!

Ella gets into some tricky situations when she is napping lately. She slept like this for at least an hour that I saw. Sometimes though she will try to sit up when her leg is hanging out and then it gets stuck, and I mean really wedged in there. So when she is yelling in bed, we need to run right in to help get her unstuck. I'm sure the baby sleep books would frown on that, but seriously her thighs are big, and sometimes her leg is that far out from her trying to get up. Luckily she hasn't figured out yet how to do it on purpose, and I can usually tell by her cry if she is stuck or not, but naptime and bedtime have gotten to be a little less of a "sure thing" lately.

We have been practicing waving a lot lately, and it seems like she has been paying attention! Last night when we got home from CT every time Nate would leave and re-enter the room, Ella would wave at him. It is very cute, though she won't do it on demand yet!

Ella has loved her "huggie" and slept with it for a while now. As soon as she became attached to it, we started looking for more to have a rotation going in case we lose one, leave it somewhere or get sick on it etc. Plus she loves to "kiss" it and it gets pretty smelly, but its hard to wash one since usually I do laundry when she naps or at least she naps for some part of the laundry process. I was getting pretty desperate and looking online for them but the only one I could find was "used" and they were asking like $25 for it, so I kept looking, but was considering it more and more until we just happened to be in walmart (we never go there) and there they were, in the minuscule baby section as we were walking by. So now we have three. The original is taking a little break until the other 2 look as dingy. Here they all are, and Ella is in her huggie heaven- she hasn't ever seen more than one at a time before this.... haha

Ella is not quite crawling yet, but she does a good job of getting around! Here she is trying to come get the camera.
Trying to stand up at one of her many toy boxes.
She's not quite sure how she wound up in here....
She has also been getting herself up into sitting in her crib, so it was a big day and we had to lower the crib mattress in case she figures out how to stand up in there...

Congratulations Mike and Melissa!
Henry Wayne Bloomrose was born just before 7am this morning weighing 8 pounds 7 ounces and 21 inches long! Big boy! They have asked Nate to be his Godfather, so that will be very exciting. We just can't wait to meet him and of course to see more pictures on their blog, Everything's Coming Up Bloomroses.
For the night we stayed at Captain Grants Bed and Breakfast which has been rumored to be haunted. I was a little nervous about staying there, but agreed so long as we didn't have to stay in the room that is most frequently known to be haunted. The diary in our room though from a couple days previous said that they had heard a child singing outside their window and they caught some things on tape. We didn't hear anything though, but the breakfast was fantastic!
Here we are sampling the Brandy from our room out on the porch.

For our anniversary, we decided to get some use out of our mystic seaport passes before they expire at the end of the month and to take advantage of the great weather. The last time we went to the seaport, I was 8 months pregnant. This (the Charles W Morgan) was our last stop of the day. This is the last wood whaling ship in existence today and is being renovated at the seaport. You can walk up and go inside the ship, but the last time we were here, I took one look at those stairs and said " not a chance" and home we went. The 2 1/2 flights were a breeze this trip and well worth it to see inside the old ship.
How would you like to sleep in these beds?
