Laughing

Ella has tried out some weird laughs in the past. Remember the honk? In fact, at Ella's 6 month checkup yesterday, the doctor asked Erin if Ella was laughing yet, then was (reportedly) taken aback when Erin said "yes, but it's not cute."

Indeed, Ella has never done a cute little girl laugh... until tonight. Check out the video below! I guess we shouldn't be surprised that it happened while she was having her bath, since bathtime is her favorite time of day. She really cracked herself up while splashing.

A brief word on "wife beater" undershirt-- by the time I get home from work, Ella is ready to begin her bedtime routine, so I usually walk in the door, take off the dress shirt, and start bathing/feeding/playing with Ella. Am I apologizing? No way. I'll never apologize for being blessed with such a fine physique.

Down on the Farm

Last weekend, we went down to Scotland, CT to Hurricane Farm. The Screwdrivers were having a rehearsal for their big reunion show coming up April 17th. We tried ear plugs for Ella, but she has really little ears just like me, and the plugs just would not stay in her ears, so we tried Nate's giant headphones, but they kept falling off her head. It was just too loud in there, so we sat outside on the hay and listened.

They have a great place to practice in the workshop, and they are sounding pretty good. (once they figured out what the lyrics were to their songs...)

Ella even got to try out the mic during breaktime. She looks like a natural!

6 Month check up

Ella had her 6 month check up today. She is 27.5 inches long (95% for girls) and weighs 18 pounds 15 ounces (93% for girls)!! So she is proportional, just big. She is wearing 9-12 months size for pants and footed pajamas already so that wasn't a surprise! The doctor was very impressed that we had not a single sick visit all winter, so that was good. She got her 3rd round of vaccines today and recovered the quickest yet! The doctor did a strep culture because she had a little runny nose and she said it was going around, but was unlikely that she had it. The doctor also is sending Ella for a cranial ultrasound because of the hemangiomas on her head. And I HATE when doctors do this because there is obviously something she is checking for but when I pressed her further about it she wouldn't give me a straight answer just that --sometimes parts of the anatomy can be a little different, but it probably isn't and if it was then they wouldn't do anything about it anyway- real helpful huh? Also she said that her fontanelle was "still pretty open" which I thought was still normal until around 9 months, but maybe it should just be a little smaller I am not sure. Now I know from working with kids that there are problems when the bones of the head fuse too soon, but I had never heard anything about when they fuse late. So here comes the WebMD search and the results were..... nothing. So again, now I think there is some sort of something that the doctor is looking for but not telling me! The ultrasound will be April 5th and all I have to say is that they better not even think about shaving her head for this!

Swim lessons

Ella and I have been going to swimming lessons on Fridays. My dad came up to visit for the day so he came to watch and take pictures for us!

she is laughing in this one- if you click on it.

Here's the dunk! She doesn't close her eyes, which is really creepy.

Morning Coffee

We have been introducing Ella to drinking from a cup, so of course whenever I have one, she wants it. She pretty much has the idea of getting the cup to her mouth, but that is where the success ends...

favorite book

The Harris' were up for a visit, and Ella loved showing Grammie her favorite book.

Nate and I got to go out for dinner, alone. And on Sunday we all went to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. We didn't get any pictures at the museum because they weren't allowed and it was down-pouring rain outside so we couldn't really take any pictures in town either. The indoor garden at the museum at least made us forget about the rain for a little while.

Weirdo

Now that it is warmer out, Ella has been napping in barefeet. Every time, she manages to wiggle each and every toe through a hole in the blanket.

too happy?

Is it possible sometimes to be too happy? Ella doesn't think so! Her face just won't let her smile any bigger than this!!!

Capron Park Zoo

On another nice day, we met Erin, Will, and Rowan at the zoo in Attleboro. There were not very many animals there, and I'm not really sure Ella even saw any of them because she was way more interested in the other kids.

Happy Half Birthday!

Ella is 6 months old today!

We just can't believe how fast time has gone by. It is hard to remember her being this little now when I see her sitting by herself, pushing up onto her hands and knees, and eating cheerios. The occasional "mama" and "dada" are heard during play. And then there is her huge smile and equally huge personality that can always make us laugh. She does things on her own terms, thats for sure. Ella decided one day that she was going to sleep on her back, and when she no longer needed the swaddler. I have a feeling that one day she will say "mommy I want to pee on the potty now." (I can dream can't I) We love you, Ella. Here are some pictures from her first 2 days!

Ella took naps like this for the first few months during general hospital. Her other naps, she was in her bed.

Nate and Ella's first diaper change!

Thankfully we don't see this face very often.

Swing into Spring

This was Ellas first time on the swings. I can tell we are going to have such a fun summer!

Nantasket

Sunday we all went for a walk at Nantasket Beach. Ella liked riding in the carrier, but didn;t so much like bending down to pick up sea glass!

The Sylvias

Ella and Nate before we went home.

The beautiful day has inspired a new spring header for the blog!

3 kids in a little condo

Ella does not prefer to be bothered while she is eating!

The kids all did great playing though, and they even all slept in the same room!

They shared Ella's toys pretty nicely...

Until the make-up toys came out!

Then it was every girl for herself!

And then, Ella learned a new trick! There she is pushing up on her hands and knees!

The Sylvia's Visit

Amy, Chris and the kids came for a visit from Maine and we really took advantage of the great weather! We met Julie and Jane in Boston for lunch, and Ella sat in the big girl high chair at the restaurant for the first time.

It was exhausting!

We spent the afternoon walking around Boston Common, and the north end, but I'm not sure Ella noticed!

Twins!

Lauren had bought this outfit for Ella when she was born, and had gotten a matching one for Rory, so they both wore them for a playdate at the Children's Play museum. This is before we left right after lunch.

Visits from Will and Rory mean lots of kisses!

The play museum is geared more toward older kids. This was really the only toy Ella could interact with, and if you look closely you can see that she is much more interested in taking her socks off!

Of course the keyboard that she could stand at was a big hit! Ella and I didn't last too long at the play museum (probably 20 minutes) but Will and Rory really loved it, and I'm sure Ella will too when she is a little bit bigger. It is a really cool place for them to run around and play to get out in the wintertime though for sure.

Happy St Patricks Day! Happy Birthday Lauren! (today) and Sarah (tomorrow)!

Bathtime!

Since Ella has graduated to baths in the sink, they have gotten much more fun and more messy! (especially when Nate fills the sink)

This is the end of a bath- if you click to see the picture bigger, you can see the water streaming down the front of the cabinets, not to mention our wet clothes!

Storytime

Sometimes she likes to read her own bedtime stories.
