Feeding Ella with a rather large dog around proved to be pretty interesting. Sampson was not shy about stealing licks....
And Ella was not shy about telling him to buzz off.
This was the only time she was actually about to initiate touching him though.
And here is the big girls new trick- taking sips from a cup! Note the headlock around Sampson in the background.

This is the quilt I made for Mike and Melissa's baby boy coming in April. They had chosen an ocean theme for the nursery so it was really fun to pick out fabrics for it. This is the first quilt I have made that I didn't use instructions for. I was going for a "wave" but couldn't find any directions. I am really happy with how it came out!

I went to a baby shower for our friend Melissa, and Nate and Ella stayed home with all the other spouses and dads. A house full of boys!!!- her favorite.
She had her first exersaucer experience and loved it!
She especially loved kissing this dragon puppet
and then there was 10 month old Ben with whom she was totally smitten.
He was slightly less smitten with her since she couldn't quite keep up with his walking skills!

There are lots of birthdays in February, and today in particular. Earlier this month was Uncle Ryan, and her great nanny's 80th birthday (both on Feb 4th). We will be heading to CT tonight to celebrate with a brunch party on Sunday. Today is Omi's birthday, but also her Uncle Pat's birthday and her Cousin Dan's birthday! What a month. We can wait to see everyone tonight!
Here is Ella with Omi- who also knit her sweater!!

Ella met her newest 4 legged canine first cousin Suzie! You guys better have some babies soon or Ella will start to wonder why she doesn't have a tail and isn't very hairy....
Ella got to spend lots of quality time with her Aunts and Uncles while we were gone.

Ella stayed in West Suffield while we were gone, and from the looks of the pictures, I would say that she had a fabulous time. She did some bonding with her great grandma.
She met her second cousins. Here she is with Daniel.
And she got to see some cool toys that are too bed to fit in our house!

Nate and I had a great time in Jamaica!
Karen and Brian had perfect weather for their beautiful beach wedding. Complete with a rum punch cocktail hour on the beach.
The steel drum band was a nice touch.
We had a great time relaxing and hanging out. Here is Nate smoking his cuban.
And here we are in the hotel swim up bar! Oh yeah, Nate bought some reflective aviators.

Ella has always enjoyed music. She would kick before she was born when Nate would play the guitar and sing, and continues to vocalize, kick and make her excited face whenever she hears a song she likes. She has gone with Nate a few times to his jam sessions with Jay. This time though, she got to sit in her own chair and had her own instruments!
She looks like she is really focusing on playing those sleigh bells!
Then she had her first piano lesson with Sarah.
Ella's love of music is only fueling Nate's argument for buying a piano... however my argument of where we will put it is still winning, for the foreseeable future anyway.

Ella is very sad that we are going on vacation to Jamaica until Sunday...
But she is very excited to be staying with Grammie and Papa. They have lots of fun things planned including a trip to Suffield High School to meet Grammies co-workers, and a playdate with her second cousins. Stay tuned for pictures from our weekends!
We are very excited to get away, but are looking forward to Sunday night when we get home!

Ella used to nap on her belly against AAP guidelines for SIDS reduction. I let her nap this way for lots of reasons that I won't get into here, but mostly because she slept more soundly and napped for way longer. However, now that she is actively playing on her belly, she doesn't like to nap that way so I have been putting her down for naps on her back. She fidgets with the blankets and moves them around every time until they are completely over her face.... Now we were visiting friends which is why she is on a bed; also at home she uses crocheted blankets because I figure she can breathe through the holes. But I probably uncovered her face 5 times this day and she would immediately flail her arms and move them right back up! Sleeping on her belly seems much safer to me than this...

Ella had her 4 month checkup over the weekend. They told us that her height is off the charts. Now they measured her twice there and we measured her again at home because even though we know she is tall (she wears pajamas once before she can't straighten her legs in them) we weren't convinced that she is "off the charts" tall. Her average height was 26 and 3/4 inches. Her weight was in the 95%, (16 pounds 4 oz) but since she is so tall, she is proportional to her height, actually her height for weight is in the 25%ile so she isn't exactly an "oinker" as the doctor said. Despite her impressive stats, she still needed to have her shots which were about as pleasurable as can be expected, but she recovered nicely and had a nice rest of the day visiting with her Aunts and Uncles who came to visit. She also was able to give out a few smiles out for lunch for Courtney's birthday!
