Thanks everyone

Thanks everyone for coming to the bridal shower on Saturday!!! We got loads of great stuff and can't wait to start using it all! Special thanks to Julie, the greatest maid of honor ever, and her personal assistant Aunt Sue. We can't leave out of course the moms, and the bridesmaids who each made a batch of different but coordinated cupcakes for the table centerpieces. If anyone has pictures of the cupcakes, can you send them to me? Thanks again everybody. We can't wait to see you all at the wedding :o) just a few more weeks!!!

Shower the People

We're just getting showered up, packed up, and liquored up for the drive to Connecticut (just kidding on that last thing) for Erin's wedding shower today. From the men I've talked to about the issue, the groom's role in the wedding shower is both very important and very ill-defined. Most gents have advised me to swoop in at the end, bellow a loud "thank you," load the ill-gotten goods, and get the hell out of there. That's the archetype I'm working from at this point, anyway.

The good part is that a lot of men are crashing the party-- both of our dads, Erin's uncles, some of my friends, etc. So maybe we'll find a bar nearby and wait out this shower.

For those of you who don't know, Nate hates cutting his toenails... His sister specifically warned me about this early in our relationship. I believe what she said was "Please make sure he cuts his toenails." After listening to me bug him for days about cutting them, Julie finally noticed how long they were from the other side of the room and told him it was unacceptable.

I guess this is a good time to formally introduce Julie to out blog. To say that Julie lives with us is not accurate. Julie and I are cousins, and Nate moved in with us this December. The three of us get along remarkably well, and it is quite nice when Nate starts doing things, like refusing to cut his toenails that she will always back me up. Of course I never do anything unreasonable...

The only solution to this problem was to take Nate to the Salon de Beauty for a pedicure. Funny that afterward his comment was "wow my feel feel nice, and it doesn't hurt to have my shoes on." Go Figure!!! Here he is exploring the massage chair. I must say it was totally worth the $26.

A Promise Delivered

Just got home from the play; we were, in a word, impressed.

Despite a few gaffes, such as people tripping, or this one kid who dropped his beer steins during "Gaston," it was fantastic. Most of the kids had great stage presence, and the young ladies especially had strong voices. The staging and costumes were very well done also, from the teacup/head kid to the chest hair toupee of Gaston.

I tried to take pictures in the theatre/auditorium with my cell phone camera, but they came out pretty blurry. The problem is that I move the camera down before the picture is done being taken, because for some reason I feel like it's really sleazy to take a picture of anything with my cell phone camera. Obviously, that feeling is heightened when you're in a middle school.

"Tale As Old As Time"

Greetings! Though Erin mentioned that we have many events going on this year, she neglected to name what I consider one of the most important: our attendance—tonight—at a middle school production of Beauty and the Beast (Our French Canadian readers may recognize it as La Belle et la BĂȘte. Bonjour, mes amis!). Taking at face value the play's offer to "be [its] guest," we, or rather I, decided that we would go see Julie's* students' debut performance.

I always love school plays, yet I was never in one. Though my best friend Mike was the head of the backstage crew for our high school productions, the music teacher (a stout, bearded fellow named Mr. Pacocha) refused to let me be Mike's assistant. In fact, he forbade me from stepping foot into the auditorium, and often even the music wing, during rehearsals. I guess my behavior in freshman chorus a few years earlier left a big impression on him.

I will report back later tonight, no matter what time we get home, on how the show was.

*You will be introduced to Julie at the appropriate time.

We are all in!

Well we figured it was about time we jumped in on the blogging bandwagon. With all the busy events coming this year we thought we should have an easy way to keep people updated on our successes and debacles. We are very inspired by our friend's blogs and have a lot to live up to...

First up on our to do list this year- GET MARRIED. Moving a wedding 4 months earlier than planned has been much less of a hassle than we anticipated. We are very excited as the big day is only 5 weeks away now!!!

If you are interested in (or lost the) information about out wedding please check out our wedding website.
